Outline for a shooter. Scrolling Starfield, Ship, Bullets and Gamestates for Menu, Game and GameOver Screens. I've just added enemies so now it's time to learn AI. All I know is in pong, they followed the ball's y-pos and it looked like the computer was smart!, I'm pushing 50 and I vaguely have the term "Quadratic Trinomials" floating in the depths of my mind from year 11 math. I remember each equation-having to solve for x and it took 4 or more pages and I didn't know what it meant that x=y/1 at the end :D I was just good at following the intstructions (like a computer) and enjoyed it (like sudoko). Still don't know what it was all about. Now I'm thinking I'm gonna find out ;) )
This game will give me a pretext for learning about the sfx, music and animation in Pico-8. If anyone can point me to good resources regarding any of these matters I would be interested.
